My friend Polly, with whom I am living, asked me to go on a mini tour of Scotland and the north of England for her in a Pink Floyd tribute. I actually wrote on my friend's blog. What I wrote is not up yet, but it will be. Here is the link. http://www.backingsinger.blogspot.com/ It was a super amazing experience.
I had the audition at the tiny Holiday Park yesterday. The new young manager expected around 15 people to show up but only 2 (including me) were there to display our talents. First this young stout girl got up to sing. She did not have any backing track to accompany her. I thought "She had better be good then". It was a terrible audition. The song was Mr President by Pink and not only were all the notes of the song very low and samey but the lyrics were the most inappropriate you can imagine.
An extract from the song: "And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay? I can only imagine what the first lady has to say. You've come a long way from whiskey and cocaine." Yea. She also sang it all a little off-key and looked like she had forgotten the words at times. Then I went up and sang and she just looked deflated. Stu, the manager, told me I would hear today so fingers crossed. Even if I do get offered the job I will still have to negotiate the wages and see what the accommodation situation is. He seems like such a nice guy so I am hoping I will get the job.
I have been "out on the town" twice since I came back. One time with Danielle and her younger sister Jayme which was a wake-up call to me, new pubs, same people. Where had all the hotties gone? Second time was last night. One of my friends Cat met a Swedish guy when she was on holiday in Spain and they kept in contact and he came over to visit all the girls who were in Spain and Timmi and Cat got together and had been boyfriend and girlfriend ever since. They kept in constant contact via skype and flew to see each other various times. Anyway, last night we went out for Cat's Bon Voyage party as she is now moving to Sweden after a 6 month relationship. I think it is both romantic and crazy but I love it. We had a super fab time. 7 girls and Timmi "painting the town red" (don't know if you use these phrases, hence the ""'s). I told the girls I wanted one boy to hit on me and tell me I'm pretty or something as I'm starting to get that girl-crazy-complex, we'll call it GCC. We did see these two guys who were on a dating tv programme we had watched that very night which was surprisingly exciting. We quizzed one on everything to do with the show and I felt more excitement talking to him than when I met Sam Worthington. I think it was because I definitely recognised this guy. He was very...groomed...and had a handsome, creepy kind of ventriloquist dummy sort of look. As he left me he kissed me cheek and said "thanks for recognising me". I replied "its only natural". Apparently he did the same gesture to most of my friends too. Embarrassing. Whilst I was at the bar dummy guy got my attention to introduce me to his tall friend who they pointed out was another contestant on the show. I asked him about his date and whatnot. He then blurted "So which one of us do you want to shag?"
"I'm sorry, can you repeat that?"
"Which one of us do you want to shag?"
"Oh, ok, so I'm going to creep away now and pretend this never happened".
Are these men really my choices? I'm 2 months sober from the love making and seriously I'm not gonna break my run anytime soon.
I saw a few people I knew and made myself known. I saw my newly married Christian friends which was a massive delight as I missed their wedding. I saw a few old school friends and I saw this guy who we'll call Chad for now. Now Chad is the very good friend of a boy who bruised my little heart over a year ago. I was looking a little bit cute so I thought I would go over and say hi. He recognised me but didn't know my name, he went through three clumsy guesses; Danielle (so wierd), Stacey (I felt insulted) and Becky which I guess was the closest. Eventually he remembered and shouted it out like a crazy person. We had been talking about shit for about 30 mins or so and I needed the toilet (but I said bathroom which is hilarious, we don't use that really here, especially in a bar). I said that I needed to go but I would like to carry on talking to him later if he's around. When I returned he was in the exact same spot where I left him. I started liking him a little in the boy/girl kind of way when he told me he liked my boots because they are practical and look nice. And then I told him I have a massive warm coat and he said that he loved that. Sigh.... Also read this dialogue:
C: Maybe we'll bump into each other in the street, maybe tomorrow at 12 o clock outside WH Smiths. Maybe I'll be holding flowers. {He stands there miming imaginary flowers}.
G: Are they for me?
C: Yes they are your favourite...sunflowers.
G: They can't be for me then.
C: LILIES! I meant lilies.
G: Oh my God. Lilies are actually my favourite, I have a tattoo of a lily. I'm going to take these {miming taking them} and put them in my practical bag here.
Now doesn't that sound like my kind of guy? Some of my friends said they were moving on to a quieter pub and they asked me if I want to wait around for the others. I have really changed since New York so I wanted to be with my friends, I'm friends with this dude on fb anyhow so its not like I can't get in contact with him. I told him I'm going to the London Inn and added that he can come if he wants. He told me earlier that he intended in only being out for a little while but it seems that he can be persuaded...very easily. We sat next to each other in this pub and he continued to impress me. He told me he is started to train to be a police officer in a few months, also that he is a personal trainer and also that he is going to Thailand for a month soon. I told him that I might be going abroad if I can't find a job here and he was surprised by my sponteneity. He then asked me if I would like to go to Thailand with him!! I told him that depending on being offered a job I was planning on doing a little travelling anyway but I would think about it. Normally I would be like "You crazy" but after seeing the whole Cat and Timmi saga it doesn't seem so utterly crazy. He is friends with my nice friends and he seems so easy going, he probably would be a great travel buddy. The money is an issue but my mum said she has some in a special account which is only to be used for important things. I would just have to work my butt off when I got back to replenish those funds. Danielle is going away anyway and also Polly has a boyf now so I guess working my socks off isn't such a bad thing. And to go to my dream destination would be AMAZING! My mum has never wanted me to go alone so that would solve that hurdle too.
Until next time babies...

I'm Back!
Arriving back in England is a but of a blow to the head to be honest. It has rained since I got home, the job I was hoping to return to has been taken away, everyone in my life in England is pretty much miserable and no-one (including me) has money to do anything fun!
I am living with my friend Polly in Brixham which is very nice. Its a fishing town and her flat has a massive view of the harbour of Brixham spanning all the way across the south coast. The town is very secluded though, its a 30 minute bus ride to the next town of Paignton and another 30/40 minutes to Torquay where all the bars and clubs are.
I did surprise Danielle which was fun. My friend Ashlea knew about my arrival and invited her to a local pub for dinner and then me and Polly came in and the conversation went like this:
Me: "Hi"
Danielle: "Hi...Oh...Wait! Why are you here?"
Me: "I came home early and wanted to surprise you!"
Danielle: "But, but, but...I only spoke to you the other day...Oh I don't want to go away now".
Danielle got offered a job on a cruise ship working in one of the shops. She gets to go all round the Caribbean! Lucky Duck.
I went for an audition the other day for a big Holiday Park in Dawlish but when they finally got back to me they said all last years staff want to return so the only position they had available was an 8 week position. Lame. I have other auditions lined up, one is at a tiny Holiday Park, another is to work in hotels as the one and only entertainer and the other is to work in Cypress as a singer. By the end of February, if these do not work out I'm going to look to travel again. By then I would have spent lots of time with my friends and family to keep me going for a while.
